About
I am a Clinical Psychologist with 15 years experience working within the NHS in a variety of services.
I work primarily with children, young people and families.
My Experience and Interests
I am experienced in supporting families facing a wide range of difficulties. These include:
- Psychological concerns related to a physical health condition or injury
- Trauma
- Low mood
- Sleep difficulties
- Anxiety
- Specific phobias
- Body image concerns
I also provide support with parenting and have experience working with autistic young people and children with learning disabilities.
I have specialist experience in working with younger children using play based and narrative approaches, and in working with trauma with both children and parents.
How I Like to Work
I work collaboratively, building a trusting relationship and working together to form a good understanding of concerns and how they have developed, and then forming a plan for how to address these. With children, I work flexibly and creatively and create a safe space from which difficulties can be explored.
The Therapy Approaches I Use
As a Clinical Psychologist, I am able to draw on a range of approaches and find a good fit for my clients. My primary approaches are:
- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
I also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and draw on ideas from systemic and narrative approaches.
My Credentials and Registration
I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Salomons Institute of Applied Psychology, Canterbury Christ Church University. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy with children, young people and adults. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
